9/3/2009 Store Updates!

Wow, it's September already!

School's starting up, the odd Maple is starting to redden, and I can't find any more blackberries. Kennebooks has been open for more than 3 months now! We're gearing up for Prelude and the Holidays already, and we hope you'll stop in.

Want to know what I'm reading right now? I'm working through Bernard Cornwell's Winter King trilogy, which is a pretty epic retelling of the King Arthur story. Instead of French and Christian (a later invention) the story is very Welsh and Pagan! It's told through the eyes of Derfel, a Saxon-born slave who fights his way to wealth and power under Arthur's regency. Bernard Cornwell is one of the great historical fiction authors of the last few decades, and I recommend this series especially to anyone who likes historical fiction and fantasy! This is an exquisite balance of the two, and I will definitely return to this trilogy. I look forward to reading his other work!

The next time you're in the store, you'll see dozens of 'Staff Review' bookmarks and shelf-talkers all over the place - we all love to read, and we're sharing our thoughts with you!
