Are you a member of a local book club? Are you looking to join one in the area?
Here at Kennebooks, we are starting Book Club registration, for group discounts and other perks! We are offering a 20% discount off of books for your reading club when you register with us! In order to qualify for registration, your group must consist of at least five members, and meet at least once a month.
Book Club Registration is a matter of listing your club name, your members' names, and their contact information. This will allow us to notify your group via Email regarding information for the registered clubs, and to contact you when your ordered books have arrived.
If you give us a list of your scheduled books for the club, we can order them in advance and have them here when you need them!
Registering your Book Club at Kennebooks also will eventually grant you access to the presentation room upstairs, which is set up with tables, chairs, and a large flat-screen television for your use.
Please visit or call today to register the members of your club!

An art exhibition titled “The MEIC’s Spooky Art Show” organized by The Maine Illustrators Collective will be on display at Kennebooks, a new bookstore located in Kennebunk's Lower Village from 5pm October 2nd through Oct 31st. The Maine Illustrators' Collective (MEIC) is a four year old non-profit collective of professional illustrators and designers meeting in Portland once a month to brain storm, critique new work, give support, share ideas, and offer advice on promoting each other's work. They also organize events, talks and shows.
The Spooky Art Show will feature paintings and original art based on classic horror novels, scary short stories and poems, and even local folklore. All participating MEIC artists are published or printed illustrators with several of the participating book illustrators having award-winning books.
Kennebooks and The MEIC will be hosting an open “Halloween” costume reception with “scary food” on Friday, Oct 2nd from 5 p.m. to 7:00 pm; the public is invited to attend. Costumes are encouraged with prizes to be given to the scariest and the most creative!

9/3/2009 Store Updates!
Wow, it's September already!
School's starting up, the odd Maple is starting to redden, and I can't find any more blackberries. Kennebooks has been open for more than 3 months now! We're gearing up for Prelude and the Holidays already, and we hope you'll stop in.
Want to know what I'm reading right now? I'm working through Bernard Cornwell's Winter King trilogy, which is a pretty epic retelling of the King Arthur story. Instead of French and Christian (a later invention) the story is very Welsh and Pagan! It's told through the eyes of Derfel, a Saxon-born slave who fights his way to wealth and power under Arthur's regency. Bernard Cornwell is one of the great historical fiction authors of the last few decades, and I recommend this series especially to anyone who likes historical fiction and fantasy! This is an exquisite balance of the two, and I will definitely return to this trilogy. I look forward to reading his other work!
The next time you're in the store, you'll see dozens of 'Staff Review' bookmarks and shelf-talkers all over the place - we all love to read, and we're sharing our thoughts with you!
DAN BROWN'S NEWEST NOVEL THE LOST SYMBOL
September 15th! Call today and reserve a copy so that you can get started on his latest thriller right away!
Hope to see you soon!
